I currently have a Zagg high def. I wasn't sure if removing the factory included screen protector would result in the device not fitting properly.
Posted on Jan 16, AM. Not using the built in screen protector will not work. The screen protector snaps onto the back. The rubber molding would not wrap around the case. So basically you will end up with an iPad that sits loosely on a back case that does not snap onto anything at all. But if you are talking about just removing the clear screen protect itself, it might be possible, but it would void the warranty and might expose the iPad glass or bezel to glue residue,.

I don't know how you treat your phones but I stopped using screen protectors on my last two phones, they are both coming up on a year old, not a scratch on either one. Screen protectors are more trouble than worth and a scam.

If you must have a screen protector get one of the tempered glass ones. They work with OB's. I'm still not convinced the those glass protectors do anything.
