What is cvt in honda accord

You need the entire headlight assembly. Self install intimidating but not too bad. GuruXX2XW answered 3 years ago. Just reading this thread 3 years late, but do know that responder FordNut's claim that the Camry he test drove had a CVT is false. They have 6 speed geared transaxles which had been on the market and proven reliable since for the I4 equipped UE and for the V6 equipped UE. The Corolla he drove may have had a CVT K but there was a 4 speed geared transaxle option UE as well depending on trim level.

Have accord sport and cvt did get a little getting used to but a few seconds warmup cured the hesitation Will change transmission oil again at 65k GuruBMJ46 answered 2 years ago. No re-manufactured transmissions available. I didn't find any transmission shops that have rebuilt this model or that could get parts for them.

I wouldn't buy another CVT. I'll let one of you that like them buy this one after a wrecking yard transmission is put in. GuruBGBT2 answered 2 years ago. You supposed to change transmission fluid every miles. Putting miles on fluid change is like putting miles on a oil change. That why transmission failed. You would have same result u put almost miles on any transmission without changing the fluid.

Jason answered 2 years ago. I haaaate cvt transmissions, total garbage especially Nissan's. That being said I'd never buy a car with a cvt. I prefer "standard" transmissions, my every car I've bought has has a manual transmission except for two which I couldn't pass up the deals on them. My current car is a 96 Honda Accord ex 5 spd manual with ,xxx on it. Bill answered 2 years ago.

He said Honda had the best CVT and presented very few problems. It's true they take getting used to and take time to "wind up" when you first get on the accelerator.

Test drive before you buy and see if you can live with it. Remember that the whole idea is you get great fuel economy. I get about 39MPG on the expressway at night with no traffic which exceeds its rating. Scotty isn't going to pay to fix your CVT when it craps out! You will have to save a LOT of gas to pay for another transmission! Yes had Altima with cvt, took the best of care.

Cvt failed 74k. Total junk. Lizzasauros answered 2 years ago. Yeah I agree with Jason. I had a 98 Honda Accord that runs like a dream. WTH Everything is saying I need to change my transmission fluid.. But who knows I have 27k left on my warranty then keep it or sell it is the question. CVTvictim77 answered 2 years ago. Honda Accord bought it brand new didnt know my had a CVT untill started to fail the transmission at aprox 70k Always changed the motor oil at dealer and they never told me I have to change the CVT oil.

Had the extented warranty for nothing because it was my mistake. Changed the CVT oil at 90k miles and is now worst when the car is cold. Im now used to the CVT failing and dont know to wait it break down or get it repair now. The transmission shop that replaced my CVT at 73k My replacement CVT has 24k on it I'll be replacing my car in a year before I hit k. My video if plays is what my car was doing Jeep also faced problems in some of their models and one of them is their Compass model.

The good news for Honda owners with the CVT is that Honda models equipped with CVT are known to be the most reliable among all the lineups and among all carmaker brands Honda has the longest CVT transmission life expectancy. But even if you are thinking of buying a non-Honda with CVT, you should not be worried so much since automakers have been working hard and continuously to improve the technology. You can expect that all newer models of the brands are better than their older models.

When you properly take good care of your CVT transmission it could last at least more than 5 years. CVT is still a relatively new technology and car makers have been working relentlessly to improve it.

Despite this, CVT transmissions will still last for a long time through proper maintenance. The following are ways you can lengthen the lifespan of your CVT:. CVT helps in improving fuel efficiency through increasing the mileage and it also provides many other advantages which we will discuss later.

However, not all the models get to have all the benefits similarly. A traditional automatic transmission and a CVT operates in a similar way but they differ in construction. As mentioned previously in this article, a CVT does not use any gears but depends on two cone-shaped pulleys to transmit power from the engine, through the transmission and to the drive wheels. These pulleys can vary their width depending on power input, hence the term Continuously Variable Transmission.

Working together, these pulleys make it possible for a CVT to accelerate with both strength and smoothness. One of the benefits in having a CVT is it allows a car to continuously change its gear ratio, meaning no matter what the speed of the engine is, it always operates at its optimum efficiency. Consequently, CVTs provide better fuel efficiency particularly when driving in the city.

Most vehicles equipped with CVTs give its drivers and passengers a smoother ride than a similar vehicle with a conventional automatic transmission. A CVT is also lighter than a regular automatic, and this, paired with the smoother operation, helps in improving fuel economy of cars that come with a CVT system.

So for instance, it can take off from a stoplight and climb difficult terrain more easily since the variable transmission makes it possible for it to run in the right gear and maintain it. Also, CVTs have fewer components and are less expensive to manufacture compared to an automatic. As expected, CVT also has its set of disadvantages. Another thing some drivers do not like about CVT is the loud droning sound that happens when accelerating.

CTVs can also be pricey to repair or replace compared to a regular automatic transmission. Because CVTs rely on the belts to function, if these begin to wear excessively or stretch excessively, the transmission can completely fail. Some of the typical problems that drivers encounter are slipping, overheating, shuddering and sudden loss of acceleration.
